Genocide in Palestine: the war on misinformation

In this episode we’re tackling the genocide happening right now in Palestine. Since October 7th, the day of the Hamas “terrorist attack” on Israel, western media has been trying to push a specific narrative about what’s happening in Gaza, by repeating to the Grand Public that Israel has the right to defend itself under international law.

But what does that mean? Who exactly does Israel have the right to defend itself against when more than 40% of people living in Gaza are under 18? What is there to defend when Palestinians do not have an army and Israel possesses one of the strongest armies in the world?

With the help of our guest Samah, a Palestinian writer living in Montreal, we explore the history of Palestine and Israel’s occupation of their land. We also address US imperialism and the connection that we must make between the Palestinian people’s struggle and other genocides like the one currently happening in Congo.

Dans cet épisode, nous abordons le génocide qui se déroule actuellement en Palestine. Depuis le 7 octobre, jour de « l’attaque terroriste » de Hamas contre Israël, les médias occidentaux tentent de passer un message spécifique sur ce qui se passe à Gaza, en répétant au grand public qu’Israël a le droit de se défendre en vertu du droit international.

Mais qu'est ce que ça veut dire? Contre qui exactement Israël a-t-il le droit de se défendre alors que plus de 40 % des habitants de Gaza ont moins de 18 ans ? Qu’y a-t-il à défendre lorsque les Palestiniens n’ont pas d’armée et qu’Israël possède l’une des armées les plus puissantes du monde ?

Avec l’aide de notre invitée Samah, une écrivaine palestinienne vivant à Montréal, nous explorons l’histoire de la Palestine et l’occupation de leur terre par Israël. Nous abordons également l’impérialisme américain et le lien que nous devons établir entre la lutte du peuple palestinien et d’autres génocides comme celui qui se déroule actuellement au Congo.
