I often hear the stories and sometimes complaints from my sweet Mom and her friends about getting old, another doctor’s appointment, cataract surgery…another expense, or I’m losing my teeth, my back hurts and all the handicap spots are taken.

It really is hard to hear these stories but my Mom is right, living on a limited Medicare budget every expense adds up and watching the body she once knew that now limits her to what she can do or social interaction she can have or her independence can be challenging

As Mom says…Getting Old Sucks…but are there things we can do to perhaps minimize those expensive doctor visits and remain vibrant and live our best lives?

I am excited to have David Bernstein MD on the show today. Dr. Bernstein is a highly-respected, award winning physician who is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatrics practicing in Clearwater, Florida. His 40 years of experience have provided him with opportunities to observe and empathize with thousands of adults as they age.

Dr. Bernstein is a graduate of Albany Medical College. He has served as chairman of his hospital’s Pharmacy and Therapeutic committee for 20 years helping to improve patient safety and outcomes. As an associate clinical professor in the department of medicine at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, he has taught the skills he has acquired over the years to first and second year students.
His publications include: I’ve Got Some Good News and Some Bad News: You’re OLD, Tales of a Geriatrician, What to Expect in Your 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond and shares his acronym GRACE, to describe the 5 Secrets for leading a happier, healthier, longer life so we can all AGE GRACEFULLY®

He is also the author of The Power of 5: The Ultimate Formula for Longevity and Remaining Youthful. Dr. Bernstein uses 5 words that begin with the letter “S,” to describe the ultimate formula he knows can save your life.

Today we will discuss:

1. What is a Geriatrician and what is that makes Dr. Bernstein an expert in longevity and remaining youthful.
2) Dr. Bernstein talks about taking care of adults as they age?
3) Power of 5...what people need to know to live their best lives and not as dependent on the healthcare system.
