Amber Valley was one of many successful Black communities established in Alberta in the early 1900's despite the governmental efforts to curate an all white nation. This episode discusses the policies, laws and problematic measures in which the government took to keep Black folks out of the country, but specifically the west; with the main focus remaining on how Amber Valley was still able to thrive despite all of the systemic, social and literal barriers put in their way.
