His journaling provides an incredible insight into his curiosities, how he thought about things, his meditations, not only as a scientist, but also a thinker, and a beautiful link between art and science and the creativity of the scientific process, to understanding our purposeful place within the universe. Henry David Thoreau said, "How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live." In the same way that it would be vain to stand up to live without having sat down to write—to allow the expression of your inner most being, to see the light of a page, written by your hand, seen by your eyes, and explored by the light of your inner most being. This is your life this is your one and only opportunity to feel the sensation that comes from living by faith, by the choice of your highest expectations and personal core beliefs. We must not take this experience for granted. It’s a privilege to go through each day living your best life. And I’ll tell you that your best life is not a possibility for you to fully experience…unless you’re grateful for this one existential life opportunity.”
