This week we hop into our ride and cruise the Historic Route 66 and check out some Ghost Towns, almost ghost towns and totally not ghost towns. In Part 1 of this series, we stop in California and check out the following locations:
Bagdad, Calico, Chambless, Essex, Ludlow, Newberry Springs and Siberia.

The abandoned Dry Creek service/gasoline station on National Old Trails Road (formerly U.S. Route 66) in Newberry Springs, California. A faded painted sign on the building front that appears to read “Italian and American Dishes” can be seen in the photograph. Originally built in 1951 as a diner ("Tony's Café") with railroad ties and plastered with stucco, it expanded into one of the Whiting Brothers' many roadside service stations (#45) until its closure after Route 66 was bypassed by Interstate 40.
