We’ve been keeping a little secret hidden from you all… we’re so excited to announce to the world that we’re pregnant!
It’s been a long journey for us, and it’s certainly been a rollercoaster of emotions, but we are well on our way to creating our luminous baby. Having children is something that both of us have always wanted, and it’s something that we’ve dreamed would happen for us - it’s so exciting to finally realise our hopes of starting a family! For Hilary, being a mother has been something she’s always wanted since she was a teenager. As a transgender man, Jaxson always knew that he wanted kids, but knew that carrying a child himself was something he could never imagine, with part of his transition including releasing his own fertility. We’ll be sharing some stories of our fertility and pregnancy journeys along the way, and answering some of your questions on the Luminous Body podcast this week. By embracing open discussions, we hope to start a conversation and help enlighten you about the many different ways of starting a family. We’ve been privileged enough to have the love and support of our families and health professionals along the way, and whilst it may not be the ‘mainstream’ expectation of creating a family, it’s a wonderful and powerful experience the two of us are sharing together - and now with you.

Send us a text Without having to think about it, you are automatically breathing in and out every single second of your life. Unlike other fundamental necessities, such as eating and drinking, breathing is something that is unconsciously performed by the body constantly, without a need for conscious action. Send us a text Chiropractic is often associated with the powerful cracking noise made during an adjustment. But it’s not the crack that is the therapy - it’s the careful manipulation of the joint, the fluid in the joint, and the delicate balance of the nervous system structures coursing through it. It’s a whole-body approach to finding harmony between all parts! Whilst it’s the most commonly known part (and most satisfying!) of your chiropractic appointment, chiropractic is so much more than just the crack - it’s a science, it’s an art, and it’s a philosophy that both of us have dedicated our lives to. We’re taking you through your own Chiropractic 101 this week, to give you a better understanding of this dynamic modality, what we do, AND why we do it. We’ll explore the complexities of brain signalling pathways, and how mind-body connections are formed. As primary healthcare practitioners, we have the ultimate responsibility for each patient that comes into our clinic. It’s our job to get to the bottom of their pain and injury and decipher the signs and symptoms that indicate that delicate balance of the nervous system and musculoskeletal systems. When this balance is compromised, it also severely compromises a patient’s daily well-being, and it takes far more energy for a body to function when it’s spending precious time compensating for it. Send us a text Gender-affirming surgery has a powerful effect on those needing it, especially in terms of mental health. When a person feels like their body truly represents them as a person, depression and anxiety rates are drastically reduced and even can reduce the need for medications such as antidepressants. It is a key necessity in a healthcare approach to transgender patients. After years of treatment, including three long, difficult surgeries (and the even more gruelling recovery), Jaxson’s medical transition has officially finished! So we’re taking a trip down memory lane in this week’s episode, as we each share our own memories of the process and what it meant to both of us. Send us a text We’ve been keeping a little secret hidden from you all… we’re so excited to announce to the world that we’re pregnant! It’s been a long journey for us, and it’s certainly been a rollercoaster of emotions, but we are well on our way to creating our luminous baby. Having children is something that both of us have always wanted, and it’s something that we’ve dreamed would happen for us - it’s so exciting to finally realise our hopes of starting a family! For Hilary, being a mother has been something she’s always wanted since she was a teenager. As a transgender man, Jaxson always knew that he wanted kids, but knew that carrying a child himself was something he could never imagine, with part of his transition including releasing his own fertility. We’ll be sharing some stories of our fertility and pregnancy journeys along the way, and answering some of your questions on the Luminous Body podcast this week. Send us a text Stress is often associated with the emotional aspect of the brain. We feel the emotional reponse of being ‘stressed out’ running through our system. But stress is not purely isolated to our emotions. It can have visible physical effects on the body, that are the early warning signs that our cortisol levels is not as well managed as we might think. When we think about stress in the body, we usully think about tense, heightened emotions. But when stress starts getting in the way of our normal daily functions, it can start presenting as some symptoms that are… well, just plain weird! On this week’s episode of the Luminous Body podcast, we’re investigating some of the ways that stress is manifesting in your body, in ways you wouldn’t usually expect! We’ll take a look at a few different systems in the body (the hormonal, digestive, muscle and bone, and skin and hair) that often present in physical symptoms when affected by stress. Whilst we don’t always associate these systems as having a strong link with stress, the reality is that our constant exposure to stressful environments can begin to interfere with how they function. When faced with an immediately dangerous situation, our bodies react by diverting all of our energy and resources toward things that are going to help our survival - blood to the muscles, pupil dilation, and a quickened heartbeat. Other less critical functions are sidelined, only to be called back into action when the coast is clear. When stress becomes an inescapable part of life, those systems face a constant shutdown. Forgotten keys and passwords, no willpower when it comes to snacking, constant coughs and colds - we’re often quick to blame ourselves for these ‘flaws’. Whilst that seems like an easy answer, the reality is that the truth lies far deeper (and is far more complicated!).
