Can we really challenge racism with both fierceness and compassion? Can we confront discriminatory actions head-on without shaming others, and interrupt hate in ways that foster genuine change? Using Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Beloved Community framework, activists are finding new ways to create equity through bold yet empathetic dialogue against systemic white supremacy. Dr. Roxy Manning believes this balance is not only possible but essential, and she shows us how in her book, "How to Have Antiracist Conversations: Embracing Our Full Humanity to Challenge White Supremacy."

Dr. Roxy Manning is a clinical psychologist and certified trainer and assessor for the Center for Nonviolent Communication. She regularly leads workshops centered on nonviolent communication and social change in the United States and internationally. Since 2004 she has operated a private consulting business, supporting organizations and corporations to address power differences and foster inclusion. As a psychologist, she works primarily with the homeless population of San Francisco.

In this episode, Dr. Manning and neurobiology expert Rajkumari Neogy provide a guide for how to show up with fierce compassion and approach antiracist conversations in everyday life that create connection and advance positive change.
