Brooklyn Bell is truly a Jill of all trades. Not only is she a mountain biker and a professional big mountain skier, but Brooklyn also works as a graphic designer with a knack for storytelling. Brooklyn uses her art to raise awareness of the importance of diversity in outdoor sports. In this episode, Eliot and Brooklyn talk about how Brooklyn got into mountain biking and how she creates alter egos to feel more confident in extreme sports – a world with very few black and brown role models. They’ll also get into the nuts and bolts of a good brand partnership, and discuss why Bellingham Washington is one of the best places in the world to bike. Mylo Fowler is a Navajo photographer who has shot for the National Geographic, Adobe Lightroom, Nike, and more. His interest in photography started while working at a tourist shop in Northern Arizona. There he saw photographers struggling to capture the local canyons because of the low light, and made it his mission to capture the beauty of his Navajo land. In recent years, Mylo has been combining his love for photography with his love for mountain biking to raise money and install solar kits in indigenous homes without electricity. One of those projects was a bike packing journey over 400 miles from Utah to his homestead in Arizona to raise $50k to power more homes. Mylo’s journey from photography to philanthropy, and his way of viewing nature and community is sure to inspire you! If there is one person who's not afraid of adventure, it’s Hannah Barnes . Not many people can say that they sailed a boat themselves from the UK to Norway at the age of 15, or biked down a glacier at the Megavalanche MTB race. After getting on a mountain bike for the first time as a teenager, cycling has become one of Hannah’s sports of choice — among many others. In this riveting conversation, Hannah will tell anecdotes that take us from a mud hut in Lusutu drinking Chai, to an MTB trail 4,200 meters up in the mountains of Colombia. Eliot tries to get to the bottom of what fuels Hannah’s passion for adventure, and what happens when an adventure goes wrong. You don’t want to miss this episode! Tomomi Nishikubo doesn’t shy away from a world-first trick. This might be why over the past couple of years, Tomomi’s biggest video projects have racked up over 13 million views. Initially starting out in motocross at the age of five, Tomomi soon moved on to riding trials. After becoming Japanese Trials Champion twice in 2016 and 2017, he decided to focus on producing his riding videos full time. In this episode, Eliot tries to figure out how Tomomi creates his popular videos, which cities have inspired his riding the most, and what it feels like to ride for big sponsors like Red Bull alongside heroes like Danny MacAskill. Have a listen to our first ever episode, which was live streamed from Crankworx in Innsbruck, Austria. Eliot speaks to Martin Söderström, freeride MTB legend who started out right when the slopestyle scene was just getting started. This episode was recorded right after Emil Johansson’s record-breaking 12th Crankworx slopestyle win – Martin and Eliot will break down why his run was so epic. Not only that, but Martin will also go more in-depth into how he started riding bikes and what it was like to first start racing. He’ll also get candid about the toll all the pressure of competing took on his mental health and how he worked to overcome that.
