Partial Transcript:
I've lived in motels I've been homeless almost three times the idea of being a speaker was something that was so far-fetched - the idea of becoming a speaker overwhelmed me simply because I didn't think I was enough I didn't think I was qualified. Secretly internally I said surely God has somebody more special more than me if he wants to change the world. There were times where while my friends were wondering what were they going to learn in high school I was wondering how long are we going to live in this particular location until we moved again.
So I was constantly stuck in this cycle of surely my story is not special enough for someone else to be inspired and empowered. For five years, five long years my friend kept on just asking the question hey I think you should be a speaker but when I say five years I mean 60 months 260 weeks 1825 days of telling my dream “no” when I secretly want to say “yes”. After the fifth year I finally said sure I'll do it I'll be a speaker because I was on the impression that would be the end of the conversation she would leave it alone. She says my grandfather is Les Brown! And so he became my first teacher.
I'm committed to being able to no longer live my life based on fear and scarcity and survival but also know that there is wealth and there's abundance, also understanding that the brain when you train it a certain way it looks for evidence of whatever you think is real.
We don't necessarily focus on what didn't go right we just move on to the next thing. But one of the one of the downsides of that is we don't process what we experience. One of the challenges of just going to the next thing is you're really not able to fully be present because you're always worrying about the next thing and that's where fear and doubt and and insecurities take up and rob us from actually stepping into our purpose, because we have accumulated so much self-doubt so much insecurity just trying to get to the next thing when we get an opportunity that's really ready for us we shrink we shrink.
