April is recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. I brought in the crew of Touchy Subjects Podcast to talk about the things that no one wants to talk about. We learn what domestic violence is and how we can start the conversation!
Meet Shawn and Amanda!
Shawn has a Master's degree in Public Health and has worked in domestic and sexual violence prevention for over 5 years. He has presented to middle and high schoolers, college students, health care professionals, bar staff, politicians, and businesses on topics ranging from consent, healthy relationships, human trafficking, warning signs of violence, and policy implications. He enjoys spending time with friends, playing video and board games, watching anime and horror movies, and meeting new people when not working.
Amanda works in Community Outreach and Prevention Education and has been in the world of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault prevention for three years. She has given educational presentations to groups that range from Pre-K to those in Residential M.D. programs. Amanda is also a nationally recognized advocate for victims of crime and spends time on a crisis intervention hotline. She can be spotted staffing awareness tables at community events in her hometown, and you can count on her to speak up when she sees injustice. Her passion for equity, inclusion, diversity, and justice is what drives her to be the best advocate and educator she can be.
