Katie found her love for fitness through playing sports growing up. Her journey into ultrarunning began in 2019 when she spontaneously signed up to run the Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim 50 miler across the Grand Canyon, having never run more than 12 miles prior. Since then she has fully immersed herself in the world of competitive endurance sports.
Katie and Tracy discuss the mental toughness required to take on such intense physical challenges, overcoming discomfort and fears, seeking internal validation rather than external, and the empowerment that comes with building strength as a woman. Katie also shares her insights on properly fueling your body, the importance of hydration and electrolyte balance, and why you shouldn’t fear getting “too bulky” from lifting weights.
