In this episode, I speak with Brian Harris. Brian is the Co-Founder and CEO of MedRhythms; a Portland, Maine based digital therapeutics company focused on the intersection of music and neuroscience! Brian is also a board-certified music therapist and one of 350 Neurologic Music Therapist Fellows in the world.

Brian’s clinical work is focused at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston where he created and implemented their first inpatient full time Neurologic Music Therapy program, specializing in Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injuries, MS, Parkinson's and Cerebral Palsy and built this program to be the most comprehensive NMT program in the country.

Music has been demonstrated to globally activate the human brain, including areas that are responsible for movement, language, attention, memory, executive function, and emotion. There is profound evidence that rhythm is able to engage the motor system to improve functional outcomes and Brian will explain how this therapy works.
