Even more intriguing is the story behind how the “messy girl” character, Amanda, came to be.

During a very difficult period of time, Carol created Amanda as a means to cope with the circumstances in her own life over which she had no control. The quirky anti-heroine represents Carol’s own daughter and provided an outlet for the author to process her adult child’s addiction and periodic spirals while her husband battled cancer.
