While everyone out here is talking about eating in a deficit to lose weight, I want to talk about my experience I just had while eating in a surplus. What I’m hoping to do with today's episode is change the narrative on building muscle and gaining weight.

The thing is women will express that they want a “toned” physique, but too often I see them either not eating enough or intentionally going into a calorie deficit because they think they need to lose weight to reveal muscle. The reality is that building muscle requires food, and you’re not going to reveal much muscle if you don’t take the time to adequately fuel your body to build it in the first place.

The issue is women are often afraid to eat more because they’re afraid to gain weight. If this is a fear of yours, I guarantee you it’s one that is limiting your potential in the gym - and I’m not just referring to physique potential. This is also how you build strength and if you want to see your lifts improve then you need to fuel accordingly.
