The Grand Canyon as a Metaphor for Solving Problems with Sara
Manage episode 397445687 series 2550389
Sara, as many of you know, is an avid mountain climber and also leads groups down the Grand Canyon. Many of the participants use this excursion as a passage through a transitional period in their life, a way to conquer their fears and grasp onto the next thing that’s calling to them, or work on solving an issue in their lives. Much of the time, they are tackling a problem, large or small and with Sara’s coaching and leadership, they go through the experience and come out of the canyon as confident and somewhat changed people ready to grasp every bit of life to make theirs’ the best possible.
In this solo episode, Sara uses the canyon as a metaphor for all of us in the midst of solving our problems. There are words of wisdom in this and she begins by suggesting ways to begin- imagine you are standing on the rim of the Canyon, looking down into what she calls a “ditch”. What is the problem you are working on- what challenge is in front of you? And from there, Sara leads us through how tackling the canyon is similar to tackling our obstacles or issues.
She reminds us of Sara’s 3 P’s: Passion, Purpose and Playing. Don’t ever forget to play. And about the acronym DUDE, which is Canyon lingo that you can use in non-mountain thought processes.
And Sara gives us an important reminder: To be flexible and resilient and ready to Pivot at any given moment .. in the canyon and in life. Join Sara in this virtual Climb to Clarity.
