A Little Improvement X 100 Trillion Cells = A Heckava Lotta New Health
When our cells are healthy and performing well, it is highly likely that we will be healthy and performing well. With healthy cells, our bodies are stronger, healthier, and more resilient.
In this episode, Pam Strand, personal trainer and life coach, discusses how our lifestyle and fitness choices give our bodies what they need.
Energy - Producing and storing energy is a requirement of life. Without energy, there is no life. With diminished energy, there is diminished life. If we move and exercise, we enhance the energy production within our cells. When we don’t - well, you probably know how that feels - meh!
Nutrients - Oxygen, water, and food are “essential” nutrients for our cells’ work. They are called essential because the body needs them but cannot produce them on its own. They need them from us. When our bodies are well nourished, we flourish!
- Improving cardiovascular fitness improves our bodies’ ability to take in, circulate and use oxygen.
- Consuming fluids hydrates our cells, preserving their structure. Well-hydrated cells are better communicators. We need our cells to be able to talk to one another in order to keep our systems running at high performance.
- Eating nutrient dense foods equates to higher quality of cellular health and performance. At the other end of the scale is “garbage in equals garbage out” - get the picture?
Healthy Environment - Like us, our cells thrive in a healthy and vibrant environment.
- Fluids (from water, fruits, and vegetables) combined with movement (the body’s irrigation system) keeps our cells and systems clean and pristine.
- Avoiding chronic stress preserves the cells’ outer layer (the membrane), making sure necessary nutrients and signals get into and out of our cells - keeping our systems humming like a well-oiled machine.
Information - Cells get the information they need from our DNA. Our DNA gets the signal it needs from inputs to our bodies’ systems. A vast number of these inputs come from our lifestyle choices - such as what we think, what and when we eat, whether we are exposed to sunlight, and whether we move or not. It is a complicated process that many experts are studying. In our daily lives, however, we help our DNA help us be healthy by working to make the healthiest choices possible.
The more we learn how to make our cells healthy, the more health we add to our years and years to our health.
